Director of Rugby Josh Leach knows the hard work doesn’t stop as the side ended preseason with a win against Swansea University

“As a coaching group we are happy with the progress over the past few weeks, but we know Cardiff will be a far tougher test in the opening SRC game in 2 weeks’ time.  It’s important we have mentally prepared for what is to come, and we are looking forward to getting back to Stadiwm CSM”

RGC were lively in the first half as they looked to play on the front foot with and were rewarded with the opening score from Harri Hughes on the left wing. Dion Jones converted,

The Gogs had much of the ball but couldn’t take advantage and scores were level when Dion Jones had a kick charged down and the ball bounced kindly for the visitors who grabbed the try and conversion.

RGC were closing the visitors down with some strong tackles from Danny Cross and Rhodri King.

Centre Dion Jones then showed good feet to break, step and run in under the posts and converted.

When RGC edged to the line with multiple phases they then shifted the ball wide with a Dion Jones torpedo pass for Hughes to collect and dab down,

The power of the pack was showing and again the recycled the ball and the pack drove over and Jones converted.

As the half drew to a close Bagshaw went straight through the middle, with a strong hand off and the played ended with Hughes getting his 3rd try in the corner and Jones hitting the extras

The 2nd half was more in RGCs favour in terms of territory and ball in hand and the scoreboard continued to tick over. Jessie Williams went in from close range, before Afon Bagshaw went through after a trademark handoff to power over the line.

Owen Parry crossed in the corner and McBryde’s boot added a few conversions.

The final score came after Connor Dever picked the ball from the back of the scrum to spot a gap and taker advantage with the try and McBryde added the extras.
