U18s: Looking to Bounce Back Against Ospreys

U18s: Looking to Bounce Back Against Ospreys 1 Chwefror 2022

Age Grade: U18s

RGC 0 Dragons 53
Sunday 30th January

RGC Under 18s 3rd game of this season's Regional Age-Grade Competition saw them face the Dragons who had racked up an impressive mid-week win over the Ospreys only a few days earlier.

As in their previous 2 fixtures the RGC side was slow out of the blocks and as in their previous 2 fixtures this was to lead the concession of an early try. However, unlike in their previous home fixture against the Scarlets, on this occasion there was to be no comeback.

In fact, they were barely to threaten the Dragons 22 whilst the visitor's backline threatened on almost every occasion they had the ball, scoring 3 further tries before the half-time break.

And they were to continue in a similar vein in the second period running in a further 5 tries. Although RGC finished the game camped on the Dragons try-line this was a rare incursion into the opposition 22 and when the game ended there could be no complaints as to the comprehensive nature of the visitor's win.

Next Sunday RGC 18s are away to the Ospreys in their final game of this season's Regional Age Grade Championship.

Head Coach Saul Nelson "

"We are disappointed with the result against the Dragons.  I wanted to see how we reacted after the previous Cardiff loss, and what we had worked on in training as a group.

That’s not taking anything away from Dragons who were outstanding, any mistake we made they pounced on, and either scored straight away or a couple of phases later. They were dangerous on the transition and we got caught several times as a result we couldn’t gain a foothold in the game.

Looking forward to Ospreys, we dust ourselves down and make sure we are mentally ready for the trip south.  We take the learnings from the previous games and fingers crossed we don’t make the same mistakes we made last week. Excited about the squad, it’s a young group and I’m expecting a better performance on Sunday”
