U18s Away to Dragons

23 Aug 2024

Head Coach Saul Nelson and his side head to Ystrad Mynach on Sunday to face the Dragons (2.30pm)

"Preseason has been thoroughly enjoyable.  As coaches, all we can ask for is that our young men turn up with a desire to learn and be better day by day.  We have worked really hard on increasing the players awareness of the development process on the field, in the gym and day to day living as a performance athlete.  It hasn’t been without a few bumps in the road but those are to be expected.

All the players that were available had a 35 minute run out against Yorkshire.  All three-thirds were very competitive and provided our boys with a different challenge.  We look forward to playing them again later in the year.

Last weekend our fixture against Ospreys was literally a game of two halves and as usual against Ospreys a very physical game.  After a very slow start we got our game going scoring just before halftime.  We scored a couple of tries back to back to take the lead heading into the later stages of the game.  To lose with the last play is always heartbreaking but I know we will be better for that experience moving forward.

This weekend we travel south to take on Dragons.  They started their summer games with an impressive victory at Cardiff Arms Park so will be a great test for us.  We have had a great week on field and the boys are excited about the it with a few points to prove to themselves.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents and clubs for the support they have shown the boys through the summer RAG block."
