RGC’s Oscar Lennon has been selected for USA U20s side, as one of the 33 players in the squad.
The USA Under-20s were originally set to play in the inaugural Men’s U20 Americas Rugby Championship. While the competition was postponed due to COVID-19, World Rugby continues to evaluate the climate for an opportunity to host the event later this year.
He is one of 4 players picked from European clubs and the scrum-half explains how it came about “I thought it was a bit of a shot in the dark, after the process started around Christmas…with them thinking I was some randomer from Wales!!
The coaches looked over the footage I sent over, and they must have liked it!
I have known I had been selected for a while, but I had to hold on from telling people apart from my family. My dad was born in Cleveland, Ohio so that’s why I qualify for them.
With the current situation we are keeping our fingers crossed the games will go ahead in some way!”
