RGC have it all to play for on Saturday, as they take on Pontypridd with a place in Quarter Final of the Indigo Group Premiership Cup at stake. Currently in 4th place, and a win will clinch the spot but Pontypridd are also in the race, sitting 5th knowing a win will take them above RGC into the Quarter Final
Dan Owen is looking forward to a game with some jeopardy
“All we wanted to do is keep improving, and turn some of our good performances into results and last Friday at Ebbw Vale was a testament to that work we have done on the training pitch.
Going down to 14 men, making sure we kept going was a huge positive. We have all talked about game management and making the right decisions and not forcing the play, and we delivered that with the last play score.
We know what is needed on Saturday result-wise, and a win gets us into the Quarter Final. Ceri set us the challenge of picking up as many points as possible, so it is no different against Pontypridd mindset-wise. As for pressure – keeping the ball and remaining composed is what we did at Ebbw Vale, so we know what we can achieve.
As players we have missed playing in exciting games that mean something, so we are all relishing the chance on Saturday.
It was a close run game when we played at Sardis Road last time out, and I expect the same again at Eirias.
This is now Cup rugby, and has the feel of a one- off game, and hopefully, the RGC support will come out in big numbers again to give us some home advantage.”
RGC v Pontypridd
