U16s and 18s play on Sunday

Both the RGC Under 16 & 18 teams begin their Regional Age Grade Competition Campaigns this Sunday when the 16s play host to Cardiff Blues South at Parc Eirias( KO 2.30pm ), whilst the Under 18s travel to Sardis Road, Pontypridd ( KO 2.30 pm )to take on the Cardiff Blues. The 18s defeated Sale Sharks 18s a fortnight ago, part of what Head Coach Andrew Williams sees as a highly successful pre-season bloc,

'It is with great excitement that we're only a few days away from the start of the Regional Age Grade season, following ten weeks of training it's good to get going. We've been training against the senior team over the past few weeks which I believe has helped the boys development significantly. They've been required to front up as well as being challenged mentally.'

For nearly all of the Under 16s squad the Regional Age-Grade competition is a completely new experience, although following last weeks successful run-out at the Super Series Event in Ystrad Mynach it is one that Head Coach Gav Hodgkinson says that both players and coaches are looking forward to,

' The Regional Age Grade competition represents a massive step-up from North Wales Club and Provincial Rugby and as such we have asked a huge amount of the players throughout what has been a very busy Summer period, including a camp at RAF Valley and a warm-up match against Sale Sharks in addition to our regular training sessions. That they have all responded so positively to the questions posed says much about them both as individuals and as a squad. The Cardiff Blues South side were very impressive at the Super Series event and will I am sure present a huge challenge. Sunday's game will be an indication as to the progress that we have made.'
