Ten RGC players will feature in the new home and way Celtic Challenge

17 Dec 2024

Ten RGC players will feature in the new home and way Celtic Challenge 2024/25 campaign after being selected for Brython Thunder and Gwalia sides.

The competition starts this weekend, and for the second season, teams from Wales, Ireland, and Scotland will compete in the cross-border competition.

Player Development Lead for RGC – Lucy Brown

“Having the Celtic Challenge allows players that opportunity to get a high level of exposure, which was clearly seen last year with Sian Jones then going on to gain her first Senior International Cap. This season, we have 10 players from North Wales representing both squads, with RGC U18s players from last season, transitioning into the senior game, which is great to see.

This is a credit to those players engaging with the PDC here at RGC and their university programmes, with the Celtic Challenge now giving them that next part of their much-needed development. The rugby talent in North Wales is growing, and I believe as each season comes, we will see more and more names in the Celtic Squads representing North Wales.

Players involved for Gwalia: Catrin Stewart, Erin Jones, Alaw Prys, Sian Jones, Kelsie Webster, Rhodd Parry
Players involved for Brython: Hannah Lane, Elan Jones, Lowri Williams, Poppy Hughes
