Recent history has shown trips to Ebbw Vale have given RGC little comfort, with loses by a point in 2018 and 2019.
It proved a similar story on Saturday when again the Gogs headed home with a defeat after a late Dan Hill try for the Steelmen gave his side the 20-17 win.
The 1st half proved low scoring, with a penalty from McBryde giving his side the lead.
Rhys Jones levelled soon after the break before Jordan Scott crossed the line for an RGC try. McBryde converted.
The homeside levelled again from a Lewis Young try, before a Rhys Jones drop goal took Ebbw into the lead.
10 minutes left on the clock RGC regained the lead with a Danny Cross try and penalty, but in the end it wasn't enough.
Post Match Thoughts
Coach Josh Leach
"Ebbw Vale is always a difficult place to come away with a win, the heavy pitch makes it an easier ground to defend on than it is to attack, and certainly suits a heavier side as any footwork is difficult.
We knew it would be a case of wearing Ebbw Vale down throughout the game, gradually just chipping away at them, keeping the tempo high and taking points whenever we got in their 22m, then stopping them when they got in ours.
For much of the game we did this well, and certainly caused them more pain with the ball than they did us.
Having gone ahead a couple of times either an error or penalty let them back in to our half, and in fairness to Ebbw Vale they made the few occasions they got in our 22m count."
