RGC head to Llanelli for the first Indigo Group Premiership game of the year, and one televised on S4C (Monday 3rd January 5.45pn)
Having not played since December 12th, RGC will be looking to pick up their first league win of the season after an opening defeat away at Llandovery.
Like many teams, the build-up to games are more challenging in the current climate but one that Head Coach Ceri Jones accepts -
“No doubt things are more difficult, and we have a number of players unavailable due to Covid – including Jordan Scott, Jordan Jones, Sam Williams, Brodie Coghlan, Rhys Williams, Matt Buchanan and a few others.
We could have looked to postpone the game, but we all felt it was important to play – especially so our supporters can watch us play on television as they are unable to travel down themselves.
I feel rugby is about playing, and that end goal to get a team out on the pitch should always be the aim – no matter how difficult that is. Having 9 players unavailable gives us an opportunity to bring some younger talent in, and players like Cai Herdman, Aaron Williams and Sam Stoddard get the chance to play now.
We want to develop players, and to get this game on is the right thing to do.”
