Wind2 Sponsors Huw Taylor.

Wind2 Sponsors Huw Taylor. 26 Oct 2023

A new partnership has been struck up between North Wales’s Regional Rugby Team, Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) and Mold based renewable energy developer Wind2.

Wind2 will support RGC, who continue to provide opportunities for players from across North Wales to develop in their home region before moving on, into the professional game.

Alongside this, RGC has a quota of players from outside the region who are recruited to add experience to a very young squad or are players that can bolster the squad positions that aren’t detrimental to the progression of North Wales rugby talent. With the coaching and facilities available at Stadiwm CSM in Colwyn Bay for the players, it is the ideal environment to achieve these goals.

One of those players is Huw Taylor, a Welsh-qualified former professional player with both Worcester Warriors and Dragons RFC who has joined RGC in a player/coach role with a remit to nurture the next wave of young talent from the region. As part of the overall partnership, Huw will be sponsored by Wind2, supporting him as an individual and, in turn, the region as a whole.

“Working with Wind2 is a real pleasure as they are so supportive of what we’re trying to do and are keen to aid our development” said RGC General Manager, Alun Pritchard. “We are on a journey, trying to put North Wales on the map as a rugby heartland. We know the talent is here, it just needs the opportunity.”

Gerry Jewson, Chairman of Wind2, stated, "Wind2 is proud to support RGC and Huw Taylor. As a business, we take great pride in our Welsh heritage, and when the opportunity to sponsor Huw Taylor arose, we eagerly embraced it."

Gerry continued, "RGC is actively promoting the opportunities available in North Wales, which will undoubtedly help attract investment to the region and further demonstrates Wind2’s commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering community growth."
