U17s Postives in Dragons Performance

U17s Postives in Dragons Performance 30 Aug 2021

Dragons U.17 31 - RGC U.17 21 For many of the RGC Team this was the first competitive Rugby game for nearly 18 months, and the lack of match practice clearly showed in the first 5 minutes of the match as the Dragons ran in 2 tries. However, as the match progressed so the young Gogs gradually got used to the pace of the game and with the forwards led by Matthew Pryce and Ethan Say beginning to make ground through the middle so they began to create chances of their own. Although the Dragons scored a 3rd try it was the RGC side who finished the half the stronger with tries coming from Louis Williams and Ethan Say, both converted by Kian Gerrard. Both sides had opportunities to score in the opening exchanges of the second half but it was the Dragons who struck first when a superb break from their full-back led to their 4th try of the match and they were to add another before RGC had the final word when Celt Francis charged over from short-range, Gerrard again adding the extras. This was for all 26 RGC players involved a first taste of Regional Rugby and whilst disappointed to lose they took out of the game a huge amount of positives which bode well the Regional Age Grade Competition proper, which begins in the New Year.
