Head Coach Ceri Jones has called for his experienced players to lead from the front on Saturday when they take on Doncaster Knights at Stadiwm CSM. 5.15pm, Free admission for all.
"We saw it last week when we played Sale FC that Dan Owen and Huw Taylor added some physicality around the collision area, and we will need that again against Doncaster."
"They are on a full-time programme, and have quality players so this will be a tough test for us. After the pre-season prep on the training pitch and the gym, this will be a marker to see where we are at."
"The squad again is a young one, so it’s important the experience of Rhys Tudor, Afon Bagshaw, Delwyn Jones is seen on Saturday."
RGC will be looking to step up the performance levels after beating Sale FC last week, and that step up will be against an English Championship side.
This will be the 2nd game on the new 3G pitch and another fast game is expected as Jones discussed post Sale victory “I said before the game that the new 3G pitch will lead to some fast rugby, and you could see that. At times when we were on attack they struggled with the pace, and we need to adapt in defence as they tested us at times. The pitch will let us play that RGC brand of rugby that we have seen over the past years."
Doncaster Knights have a couple of familiar faces with former RGC hooker George Roberts and fly-half Billy McBryde both playing for the South Yorkshire side.
