Ceri Jones: Sale Post Game Thoughts

Ceri Jones: Sale Post Game Thoughts 12 Aug 2023

Head Coach Ceri Jones saw plenty of positives with the young players impressing “To give so many players their debut is testament to the work the pathway is doing here.  To see the boys come up from U18s to feature today is great to see and will be a huge benefit to us.

The best way for them to develop is to give them game time, and that’s something we will look to do

I said before the game that the new 3G pitch will lead to some fast rugby, and you could see that today. At times when we were on attack they struggled with the pace, and we need to adapt in defence as they tested us at times.

This pitch will let us play that RGC brand of rugby that we have seen over the years, and hopefully in the winter months that will continue with the 3G pitch. Ollie Wynn came off saying he loved playing on it, so I think it will be providing a foundation for a quick game.

Next week’s game against Doncaster Knights will be another step up, and we will need our senior players to lead next week.

I thought when Dan Owen came on today, he made some good collisions, and that’s what we will need more of next Saturday. So we will be focusing on that this week in training.

RGC face Doncaster Knights next Saturday, 5.15 pm at Stadiwm CSM. Free admission for all.
