Merthyr Midday Saturday

Merthyr Midday Saturday 3 Feb 2022

RGC are back at Eirias on Saturday for a 12-noon kick-off versus Merthyr.

The visitors are 2 from 2 in the league and will be looking to continue that winning form.  RGC on the other hand will be looking to get back to winning ways after a close defeat at Quins last weekend.

Harri Evans knows both players and coaches are frustrated at not having more points on the board

"Again we have come away from a defeat thinking we could have got something, and that's the frustration."

"Parts of our game are good and then we make some errors that are costing us."

"The past 2 performances we have been chasing games and trying to get into winning positions and that creates pressure and little chance of making a mistake and recovering."

"Merthyr will come up and look to put points on the board early, so the opening quarter of the game will be a competitive one.  The games against them are always entertaining so hopefully we can get the fans behind us and get momentum from kick-off"

Head Coach Ceri Jones and his side have regrouped this week ahead of a physical challenge that will come from the visitors "Games can turn at key times, and we are not too far away from getting the wins – missed chance in the corner and 2 penalty misses last week at Pontypridd – if we got them then it could have been a different result. So by tidying up some of our game we are in a better place come the final whistle."

We will be showing the Ireland v Wales game plus Scotland v England in the Halliwell Jones Fanzone on Saturday afternoon as well
