Ceri Jones: Winning Ugly

Ceri Jones: Winning Ugly 10 Oct 2021

Head Coach Ceri Jones praised his teams efforts as they claimed their first win of the season against Ebbw Vale.

"It was pleasing to see the set-piece performing so well, and what we have been working on in training come to fruition.  Scoring two tries from lineout plays was also a huge positive.  We had Ilan Evans start his first game and looking assured in the line out, and that is what we are all about - giving young North Wales players a chance. Danny Evans from Dolgellau putting in a good performance, plus the support of clubs with Llandudno RFC having Cam Davies and Billy McQueeney in the squad.  Add in the influence of Brodie Coghlan and Evan Lloyd two young players looking to develop with us this season.

The game was not a typical RGC win, but to win ugly is more impressive.  It was a massive defensive effort to get us over the 80 minutes, the support was huge, backing us with every tackle.  Hopefully we can get more in for the next home game in a few weeks but the focus is now Pontypridd away on Saturday."
