RGC ended the season with a 9 try haul, created by some great running and blistering pace.
The opening 15 minutes was as good a spell of rugby as we have seen all season. Billy McBryde made an early break to rip open the field and set up Jordan Jones for the try. The fly-half added the extras.
It was more of the same when Andrew Williams touched down for the 2nd score and then a period of play that started in the RGC half was sublimely finished by Bailey Rae. McBryde was successful with both conversions.
Both Cardiff and the crowd then caught their breath before the visitors got on the board with a try by winger Chris Lewis and Thomson hit the conversion.
The bonus point try arrived after 27 minutes, when Rhys Williams used some fancy footwork to skip a tackle and run in. Again McBryde was on form with the boot.
After a blistering start the pace of the game dropped, before Cardiff went over with a try from Thomson, but his conversion was unsuccessful.
It was more of the same from RGC in the 2nd half when McBryde collected the ball in his own 22m line and put his head down and ran down the wing to score , and he had the energy to knock the extras over.
Supporters were being treated some great running and Rhys Williams broke free again to offload to captain Evan Jones to score. Conversion from McBryde.
Cardiff crossed the line with a couple of tries set up by the forwards, but it was RGC’s day.
Efan Jones and Sam Jones added the try tally before Nick Butterworth made it try number 9 of the day. McBryde was on form with the boot again to claim a 23 point haul.
