U16s Review

The U16s can look back at the season with a huge sense of pride, as the represented the region will both on and off the field.

A 42-17 loss to the Ospreys West 16s in what turned out to be their final game was not the way in which the RGC 16s would have wanted their season to end but they can nonetheless look back at this year's Regional Age-Grade Campaign (RAG) with a lot of pride.  5 wins and 2 losses meant that when the season ended they were sitting in second place in the table with 1 game left to play.- The loss to the Ospreys West meant that they couldn't win the competition.- but more important than that was the way in which the squad had developed since they came together back in August and the fact that over 35 different players had game time in those 7 fixtures. Something that the squad's Head Coach, Gav Hodgkinson was keen to emphasise,

' I know it is a cliche but the RAG Competition is all about development and in that respect as a coaching team we could not be more pleased with how the season has gone. Right from the outset the players demonstrated a fantastic attitude , willing to learn and supporting each other at all times. The success that they achieved on the field is very much a reflection of the effort they put in off the field.'

U18s Review

Coaches comments -

Paul Shanks - "I’d like to think that despite no wins there have still been loads of positives, they matured as a group and “cracked” the away game conundrum; their headspace skill have improved with some players really stepping up in the leadership stakes and many surprised us with their individual application. Absolute commitment in some with travel. It’s been a really enjoyable season, proud to be part of it!! On a personal perspective, I’ve really enjoyed being part of the environment; learning all the time and thanks to everyone for their involvement and support!!

Rachel Taylor -

"Having only really come in at the back end of the season I’ve been really impressed with the attitude and commitment of the players.
We did a lot of work around developing them as individuals and to make them enjoy their rugby experiences and each other - hopefully they’ve felt this. Although results didn’t come our way, some games really could have. I have to give the players credit for being brave and trying to express themselves, which some times see’s us running from our own try line! I wish all the players the best in their next steps to senior rugby! Big thanks must go to the clubs, colleges, schools and work places for allowing the lads the flexibility to train and play. To the parents and support net works for keeping them on track and lastly to the other coaches and staff for the  amount of time and effort committed to them as players."
