Tawhai Praised Sides 1st half performance

Tawhai Praised Sides 1st half performance 19 Jan 2020

RGC Assistant Coach Latham Tawhai was delighted to see his sided pick up there 1st win of 2020 against Llanelli.

The Gogs put in a barnstorming opening 40 minutes, running in 5 tries for a 33-Nil lead.  The visitors tried to make some inroads on the scoreboard with 3 tries in the 2nd half, but scores from Harri Evans and Rhodri King gave the side a 43-21 victory

"For such a young group (in general) our guys showed a lot of maturity early on when we probably weren’t as clinical as we would have liked. The boys stayed composed and stuck together to force an error and score from long range.

That’s something we’ve identified and targeted over the course of the season so far - to make the most of those changes in momentum.

For the next 30 minutes the boys were absolutely ruthless in both attack and defence.

The forwards laid a fantastic platform with a solid set-piece and some big carries allowing the backs plenty of opportunities to cut loose.

Fair play to Llanelli, they never threw in the towel and whilst we were a little disappointed with some aspects of the second half, the first half performance illustrates the potential this young side has.

Overall, it’s nice to get back to winning ways and pick up an important five points."
