Sam Williams: Need to Move on From Cardiff Result Quickly 22 Sep 2021

RGC head to Merthyr on Saturday, after a disappointing result against Cardiff last week.  That disappointment was felt by the players as they look to kickstart the new Indigo Group Cup competition.  The aim now is to focus on Merthyr and put in a performance and claim the first win of the season.

Sam Williams - "Of course it was a difficult afternoon against Cardiff and no one wants to be on the end of that score. That said we can’t change that, and we do have to move on.  We get a chance to do that on Saturday against Merthyr.  The games come fast, and for us as a group we need to learn quickly, making sure we put a performance in for 80 minutes.

It’s another tough one, but when you look at the cup format every game will be tough. We are working hard in training this week, and we have had plenty to work on.  The one thing we know is that if we make errors we will get punished, and Cardiff were clinical with those opportunities last week so we need to tighten up. We went chasing the game 2nd half and that cost us badly.

The boys all want to do well, and with two home games coming up (Starting with Newport on 2nd October 2.30pm) and we want to head back to Parc Eirias with good performance to set ourselves up for a good run at Parc Eirias."
