RGC to Host U16s Age Grade Event

RGC to Host U16s Age Grade Event 2 Dec 2021

In a normal year the RGC Under 16s would now be half-way through their Regional Age Grade season. However, as we all know the past 18 months have been anything but normal and this season's Under 16's don't start training as a squad until January with fixtures against the other regions taking place in April of 2022.

With a view to helping select the squad, this Saturday sees Eirias Parc host 6 teams from RGC East, West & South who will take part in a series of round-robin matches. The day will also provide an opportunity for players and parents to look round the facilities at Eirias, to find out more about the RGC Pathway Programme and looking into the future to hear from academic partners.

RGC Performance Manager Josh Leach is in no doubt as to the importance of the day “Saturday is not only an opportunity for the players to enjoy some high-quality games having trained together since September and having missed out on so much competitive rugby over the past year, but it is also an opportunity for us to complete the identification process for this years Under 16 squad. Along with the Head Coaches of each side who have gotten to know the players over the past 4 months, we will be looking for the players who show the most potential to play at higher or professional levels of the game.”
