RGC 18s Women look to push on

RGC 18s Women look to push on 11 Feb 2022

After the first round of matches, last weekend RGC 18s Women are back in action on Sunday, again facing the other 4 regions.

Head Coach Dan Lycett was impressed at the team's performances last week and is looking forward to seeing the progression this weekend as he explains -

As a  group, we laid down the first marker in the three series competition. A marker built on real engagement and lust to improve. On passion to learn and a togetherness brought together by our ebullient Manager Gemma Owen.  Over the four matches the team grew into their role and despite the early start and long journey played a brand of fast, free-flowing rugby based around tenacious defence and aggressive work at the breakdown. Despite the short contact time, I feel the team has made progress around continuity and their game understanding"

We have set the bar high for ourselves after the first week and the team are adamant that they will continue to push their skills and show the rest of the regions what is up in the North"

Ross Williams (S&C) commented " We have kept to our principles and kept all players who attended the open training. This approach has raised the skills of all involved and we saw in the games vs the Blues and Ospreys that despite our low contact time that the region is full of talent and a real desire to win.

The Dragons, Ospreys, Scarlets, Cardiff and RGC U18 women’s teams will play each other in a series of 20-minute matches on Sunday at Merthyr RFC (11 – 4.30) and again on Sunday 20 February at Cardiff Arms Park.
