Player Progression

Player Progression 6 Jan 2022

As well as picking up the bonus point win at Llanelli on Monday, one of the most pleasing things was seeing some of the younger players make an impact at Parc Y Scarlets.  Ceri Jones's side faced the challenge of having 9 players out due to COVID, but utilised some of the Senior Academy players for the match.

Performance Manager Josh Leach praised the performance "It was really pleasing to see a number of the younger Senior Academy players feature in the win over Llanelli on Monday night.

Whilst Samuel Hughes, Aaron Williams and Sam Earl-Jones have taken the field for the Premiership side once or twice before, it was the first appearance for Cai Herdman and Sam Stoddard.

Samuel Hughes in particular, started at 7 and had a really solid game with 10 tackles and a couple of quality rips. He is one example of how these young players will adapt quickly to the higher demands of the Premiership game when given progressive exposure. While the others came off the bench for the final 15 minutes and made an impact.

With the disruption of COVID looking certain to continue, the next few months will present numerous opportunities for these lads to gain more Premiership experience"
