RGC put in a strong 2nd half performance to clinch a bonus point win against Cross Keys.

Sam Jones ran in a brace of tries, as RGC edged away in the last 30 minutes of the game.

The opening half was a fairly even affair, with both sides having some good territory and possession. Players also had to deal with a strong wind, which was making both kicking and handling difficult.

RGC and Cross Keys traded penalties before the visitors crossed the line with the opening try from Carpenter. It was a good period for Cross Keys as RGC dug deep to keep them from another score.

The home side levelled the score when Efan Jones popped a nice pass for Karl Martin and the winger ran in to get the touchdown.

Leon Andrews was proving difficult to stop with ball in hand as he made some good yards for Cross Keys.  The Gogs were reduced to 14 men after Tim Grey was yellow carded. Matters were made worse when Cross Keys took the lead with a try from Ellis Sharp.

Billy McBryde reduced the lead to 2 points just before half-time with a penalty.

The boot of McBryde was on song again soon after the break with another penalty and from that point RGC took control of the game.

Danny Cross spotted a gap, and broke between the defence to pick up a try, and he also made an impact without the ball with good tackle to stop a Cross Keys attack.

Sam Jones took his two tries well, but credit must go to McBryde who nailed 2 difficult conversions from the touchline with the wind swirling around him.

Much of the hard work was done in the 1st half, with RGC keeping in the game with 14 men and pushing on in the 2nd half using the ball well and taking the opportunities when they arrived.
