Hughes: Good Start Needed on Saturday

Hughes: Good Start Needed on Saturday 11 Feb 2020

RGC face Quins.

After a few weeks break, RGC are back in match action on Saturday home to Carmarthen Quins (2.30pm)

The visitors are sitting in 2nd place, and defeated leaders Cardiff last time out.

RGC know a win will bolster the chance to end the season in the top 6, and with only 3 home games remaining skipper Tom Hughes knows what is needed from the side.

“Last time we played Carmarthen Quins we underperformed and they punished us, as good sided do.

Game management is something we need to be on top of, as the weather can make a difference in how the game goes again on Saturday

For us it is about putting in a good shift and starting the game well. When you look at the Llanelli game it was all about the opening 40 minutes and that’s where we need to be as a group of players.

It has been a few weeks since that game, and we have been working hard with Gaz (S&C), so we are in a good place fitness-wise.   All the boys just want to get out on the pitch and play some rugby, so Saturday can’t come quick enough.”

Head to Head

Out of the 8 games played in the league both sides have won 3 and Quins with 2 draws.

The last win for RGC was back on 30th September 2017 with a 26-13 result at home.

Tries came from Rhys Williams, Tiaan Loots and Harri Evans, with the boot of Dion Jones adding the extras.
