Female Player Development Centre Appointment

Female Player Development Centre Appointment 1 Sep 2023

Following the announcement by the WRU that RGC would become the northern location for one of three recently developed Female Player Development Centres (PDC’s), a recruitment search has been underway to find the right person to hold the reins and help extend the pathway for players of potential to achieve their dream of playing elite rugby.

After a rigorous process, RGC have appointed a new Female PDC Lead with Lucy Brown taking on the role for North Wales.  Bringing a wealth of coaching experience including time with the Scottish Rugby Union she is looking forward to getting started:

“Having been part of the Women’s and Girls pathway coaching set up for the SRU development programme, as well as my time in Brazil and Australia, I am looking forward to getting started with the Women’s and Girls programme at RGC.”

“It’s a dream job to support players and coaches from across the region, to be part of developing talent in North Wales.  Already I can see the platform and the aim is to build on that and that makes it a hugely exciting opportunity.”

“The aim is to support the players and help them excel as people not just in a rugby sense.”

RGC Performance Manager Josh Leach welcomes the new addition to the pathway coaching set-up in North Wales:

“We’re delighted to have Lucy on board. She has an extensive background in performance coaching and management, both of which will be utilised in order to help our women and girls take the next steps in their rugby journey.

“The RGC players have had great success with National Age Grade appearances recently and we now want to see them progress onto the senior international stage.”
