It was confirmed yesterday that RGC have been accepted into the new Elite Domestic Competition (EDC) and we now look forward to preparing for the season ahead. Below is some further information to explain where we currently stand:
9 teams have been accepted into the league with 1 further place potentially available.
Teams currently accepted are Aberavon, Bridgend, Carmarthen Quins, Ebbw Vale, Llandovery, Newport, Pontypool, RGC and Swansea.
There will be a domestic league and cup competition, with the number of games and format to be confirmed.
The main aim of the competition is to drive the quality of semi-professional rugby in Wales so that it more closely replicates the demands and goals of professional rugby and supports the development of high-potential young Welsh players.
As soon as we have further information to pass on then we will do so. We believe this is a positive step for all of Welsh rugby and look forward to being part of it.
