Cardiff in the Cup 10 Sep 2019

RGC v Cardiff, Saturday 14th Sept, 2,30pm

Cardiff head up to North Wales as cup holders, having beaten RGC at Stadiwm Zip World last season on route to the final.

When the fixtures were released it was clear RGC had a tough opening with the league champions and cup winners back to back.

Last weekend RGC put in a huge shift to beat Merthyr,  and skipper Tom Hughes is looking for more on Saturday “We came so close in beating Merthyr last season, so that win was as much down to our mentality not just our physicality.”

“They came at us in the last 5 minutes but we defended well and kept going, and we were rewarded with the result.”

“That said we have to follow it up again on Saturday.  We were disappointed with our performance in the cup last year against Cardiff, so we know that our game needs to be on point from the opening minute.”

“Cardiff are a side full of confidence and they will come up wanting to keep hold of the cup.”

Head Coach Matt Silva was also full of praise for the Stadiwm Zip World crowd “It was great to see 1,300 at the game, and the noise they created made a huge difference to the boys on the pitch. You can see the lift they get when the noise levels go up, and we need to create more of that on Saturday”

Kick Off 2.30pm
